We need to change our content, because our audience are smart: Actress Ragini Riya Sutradhar
The actress says that the audience are smart enough to quickly recognize the origin of contents catered to them.
Actress Ragini Riya Sutradhar who has roots from West Bengal has worked in Ollywood. The second film of her acting career was Odia movie ‘Mu Eka Tumara’.
In a recent interview about the industry’s content, Ragini expressed her serious concerns.
“Nowadays, people are quite active on social media. They have turned smarter. So, they recognize, very quickly, the origin of the content of a film they’re watching. Then begins the comparison between the original and the recycled content and if the latter doesn’t prove up to the mark, the audience simply stop watching the film. So, if we start producing films with original contents, there are chances to win over the audience’s hearts,” Ragini stated.
“There are many talented directors and crew members in the Film Industry. If only we start working on our own contents then we could attract a huge size of the audience,” she added.
In spite of coming from a non-Odia household, Ragini narrated that she had never faced difficulties shooting an Odia movie. In fact, she has worked in several regional film industries.
Moreover, the actress spoke that she believes, “Language is not the barrier, especially for the people of India, a nation that hosts 24 different languages and somehow people often get one or two neighbours or friends who have a different tongue.”
“If someone wants to work out of their zones, then they need to be hardworking towards whatever work they do and should be focused and honest towards the carrier,” Ragini further stated.
Looking at Ragini’s education, she did her schooling & intermediate from her hometown Bankura. After finishing her degree in mass communications from Seth Anandam Jaipuria College in 2016, she shifted her focus to acting. She came to the limelight at the age of 17 from a beauty peagant “Telegraph T2 Beauty Peagant Eastern India 2011”
Ragini got her 1st break in a Bengali movie “Ek Tuku Choya Lage” in the year 2012. Then she has acted in numerous Odia, Bengali & Telugu films like “Mu Eka Tumara”, “Gadbad”, “Hari Om Hari”, “Tume Thile Sathire”, “Kayuum Bhai”, “Mitali Guest House”, “Dekha Hela Prema Hela”, “100 Rupaye Note”, “Swarna Mudra”. She has shared her screen with Ollywood’s superstars like Siddhanta Mahapatra, Sabyasachi Mishra, Deepak Kumar Barik, Subhasis Sharma, Abhishek Rath.
Till now, Ragini has done around 13 films all together in different languages.
Sharing her experience working in Ollywood, she said, “I always feel proud of being a part of this industry and for the love and encouragement I get from my viewers and my costars. I feel lucky to have had a chance to learn from the industry’s legends Bijay Mohanty, Uttam Mohanty, Aparchita Mohanty and Rachna Banarjee.”
The actress also nodded that if in the future if she got good content for web series, she would definitely do them.

Sharing why tourists get attracted to Odisha, Ragini said, “Odisha is a complete package for tourists as it has so many beautiful places to visit.”
Chilika and Puri Jagannath Temple are Ragini’s favorite go-to places whenever she visits Odisha.
“Visiting Koraput and Baripada are on my bucket list. Soon I will explore those beautiful places in the state,” said Ragini in a very exciting way.
Hashtagging herself as a Foodie, Ragini said, “I love the seafood of Odisha especially the crab curry and Chingudi Checha. Apart from the non-veg dishes, there are few veg-dishes that I love and that’s mostly Pakhala, Alubharta, Santula.”
Whenever Ragini goes for a shoot in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, she never fails to eat ‘Dahibara Alludum’ once a day.
‘I always tell my friends or close ones who visit the Twin City and go without eating Dahi bara that- ‘Agar CTC-BBSR jake Dahi bara Nahi khake aye to Kya Kiya,’ said Ragini.
Apart from acting, Ragini loves to read books, an experiment in cooking and help her mother in social works. During the lockdown, Ragini visited door to door and distribute cooked food among helpless people and to the animals.
Having a hint of styling, wearing trending outfits and being very conscious about makeup products, the actress is against the perception of people involving in body shaming.
She says fat can be a genetic or health issue. Eating food is not the only reason why a person becomes fat. One has to feel comfortable in whatever they are dressed in. If they are comfortable then no one has the right to comment on them.
Currently, the actress Ragini is working on her upcoming project, ‘Lage Prema Najara’ that has been planned for this year’s release.
